Background and Needs

"We had an old system that required some form of action from our side. The options were either to upgrade the existing solution or look at something else. Since both alternatives would entail essentially the same cost and effort, we chose to explore alternative solutions that better meet our needs," says Marie Karlsson, COO at Salming.

Salming has developed premium products in the areas of floorball, running, and handball since 1991. They are based in Sweden with sales worldwide. For some time, they had an old business system that did not support their needs, but rather hindered them from gaining meaningful insights and a good overview of business data. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central already existed in the group of companies with similar needs, which led Salming to focus on that particular business system quite early on.
